Set Up Business Matter Tags in LiraDocs
Why Use Matter Tags?
In LiraDocs, Matter Tags help organize and classify business matters beyond the default matter types. They allow firms to:
- Add additional details to matters for clarity.
- Filter and report on matters efficiently.
- Improve workflow management by categorizing cases.
Examples of Business Matter Tags
- Entity Formation Matters
- Tag Example: Month of Formation (e.g., “March Formation”)
- Use Case: Helps track renewal dates for businesses based on formation month.
- Securities Law Matters
- Tag Example: Type of Securities (e.g., “Bonds,” “Derivatives,” “Debt Securities”)
- Use Case: Quickly identify matters based on the type of securities involved.
- Corporate Transactions
- Tag Example: Deal Status (e.g., “Pending Review,” “Finalized,” “Regulatory Approval Needed”)
- Use Case: Organizes transactions by their current phase.
How to Assign or Edit Matter Tags in LiraDocs
- Open a Matter in LiraDocs.
- Click “+” at the top left of the screen.
- Add either:
- Staff Tags (to assign a matter to specific team members).
- Custom Tags (to categorize the matter with unique identifiers).
- Click outside the tag box to save.
- To edit existing tags, select the “Edit Tags” link and update default options in the Matter Configuration pop-up.

You can filter your Matter List on the home screen using Matter Tags for easy sorting and organization.
