Part Four: Set Up Tasks, Workflows, and Matter Stages
Tasks
You can add tasks to all your matters using the Task button in the Next Step widget. Additionally, you can run a Next Step Report to see which tasks are due today, next week, next month, and so on.
Workflows
A Workflow is a series of tasks that can be applied to any matter.
Workflows help eliminate extra administrative work by allowing you to automatically assign tasks to every matter. If you are completing the same set of “to-dos” for each client or a specific matter type, it’s best to set up a workflow.
If you had a list of tasks in your previous system, speak with your Onboarding Specialist or Migration Specialist about how workflows can be created to replicate those tasks. You can also review sample workflows in the Area of Law Practice Center for suggestions on workflows tailored to your practice.
Matter Stages
Matter Stages are a series of milestones that show where the case currently stands. These stages are displayed at the top of every matter, just above the Matter Details, and are visible to all team members.
You can sort your cases by Matter Stage on the main matter screen for easy tracking.
Matter stages also help you monitor how long a file has been in the same stage and allow you to take action to move the case forward as needed.
For assistance in setting up Matter Stages, reach out to your Onboarding Specialist.
