Family Contacts in LiraDocs

Family Law matters often involve many parties, and it can be challenging to track all relevant parties and changes in contact information. LiraDocs simplifies this process by helping you keep all important parties and details organized in one place. Below are some best practices for entering contacts into Family Law matters.

Different Mailing Address

In pre-decree cases, clients may have a permanent address but require communication to a temporary mailing address.

• Use the advanced view of a contact card to enter an alternative mailing address for letters and other correspondence.
• Note: A contact name must be entered before you can access the advanced view.

Client Prefers to Be Called by Another Name and/or Maiden Name

LiraDocs contact cards include an Other Names field for keeping track of maiden names and preferred names.

• To address your client by their first name or nickname, use the Informal or Custom fields.

Multiple Children and Dates of Birth

To track multiple children and their dates of birth, follow these steps:

• Right-click on the Child field to add additional children.
• The Additional Details tab on the advanced view of the contact card allows you to keep track of dates of birth. These dates can be used when automating documents like Petitions for Dissolution, Parenting Plans, and other documents requiring date of birth information.

Additional Parties Not Listed

LiraDocs provides several fields for common parties in Family Law matters.

• If a particular party is not listed in the matter details, click on the gear in the upper-right corner of the matter to access matter settings.
• From there, you can add or remove parties as necessary.

Additional Parties Not Available in LiraDocs

If LiraDocs does not have a pre-configured field for a specific party, use the Authorized Contact field.

• Select Edit Role & Legal Description to add additional details for that party.
• If the feature is not available in settings and you believe it would be useful, you can submit a feature suggestion to LiraDocs.
