Criminal Contacts
Managing Additional Parties
LiraDocs provides a variety of fields to manage Criminal Law matters.
- If a required party is not listed, click the ⚙️ gear icon in Matter Settings.
- Add or remove relevant parties as needed for accurate case management.
Handling Potential Clients
- Open a matter and mark it as “Pending” or use a Pending Matter Template.
- Even if you do not take the case, storing details and correspondence can be valuable for future reference.
- Once the client signs a contingency/fee agreement, change the matter status to “Open”.
- Run reports on pending clients to track potential business opportunities.
Tracking Additional Parties Not Available in LiraDocs
If a specific role is missing, use the Authorized Contact field.
💡 Example: If your client is incarcerated and correspondence with a spouse or family member is permissible, log them as an Authorized Contact.
Managing Experts & Witnesses
- Add experts or witnesses similarly to authorized contacts.
- To edit their role, right-click the contact and select “Edit Role and Legal Description.”
- Use Contact Tags to categorize experts (e.g., Forensic Analyst, Criminal Psychologist, Ballistics Expert).
Conflict Checks
LiraDocs helps avoid conflicts of interest by automatically checking if a contact appears in other matters.
💡 Example: If a defendant or witness has been involved in a prior case, LiraDocs will flag the name for review.
