Business Contacts

Entering Client Information in LiraDocs

How you enter client details in LiraDocs impacts both document automation and billing processes.

1. Document Automation Considerations

  • The fields used for a Person vs. an Organization contact vary slightly.
  • Customizing your automation fields ensures accuracy in document generation.

2. Billing Considerations

  • Your client is the default debtor in LiraDocs.
  • If billing a business entity, enter the client as a business.
  • If billing an individual forming the entity, enter them as a person.
  • Most Business Law matters have separate fields for entity information.

If your client is an organization, but you are working with a specific representative, enter that person as the primary contact and specify their business role within the entity.

Adding Additional Parties

LiraDocs offers various fields for Business Law matter types, but if a necessary contact field is missing, you can:

  1. Navigate to Matter Options (gear icon in the upper right corner).
  2. Access Additional Contacts settings.
  3. Add or remove parties as needed.

Identifying Roles on Contacts

For business entities, clearly identifying who is who is essential. LiraDocs allows you to:

  • Assign business roles to contacts within the matter.
  • If a contact has multiple roles, leave the business role field blank and specify their role under Case Details instead.
