Civil Litigation Contacts
Conflict Checks
When entering a contact’s name into LiraDocs, you will be automatically notified if their name appears in any other matters in the system. This helps ensure that there are no conflicts of interest between your current and past cases.
Additionally, you can use the Advanced Search feature to perform conflict checks and save the search results directly to the matter for easier tracking and management.
Additional Parties in Civil Litigation Matters
LiraDocs allows you to track various parties involved in civil matters beyond just the Plaintiff and Defendant. If you do not see a specific party in the matter details, you can click on the gear icon to access matter settings and add or remove parties as needed.
Authorized Contact
For parties not directly listed in the system, you can use the Authorized Contact field. This is useful for individuals who may not be the Plaintiff or Defendant but still play a role in the case, such as family members or representatives.
To edit their role and legal description, simply right-click on the Authorized Contact and select Edit Role & Legal Description. For example, you can designate a spouse, parent, or other family member as an Authorized Contact if your client has given permission for correspondence with them.
Experts and Witnesses
LiraDocs recommends using Contact Tags to track different types of experts and witnesses in your civil litigation matters. You can filter your contacts based on their specialties, such as:
- Forensic Accountant
- Forensic Engineer
- Appraisal Expert
This feature helps you quickly locate and manage experts with specific qualifications, streamlining the preparation for depositions or testimony.
